Feeding is Family Time's central pressure: the litter grows every night, and every new mouth needs food. Here's what official sources say, what players report, and where the line between them sits.
The two official feeding paths
The official Steam copy gives exactly two ways to put food on the table:
Feed your Family! — Farm food for them or go out hunting with them!
- Farming — grow food at home.
- Hunting — go out with the children and hunt together.
That's the entire officially documented answer. The devlog videos show the mechanics in motion, but the developer hasn't published text-level control instructions — so this page won't invent click-paths.

The systems behind the food
Feeding plugs into a chain of officially revealed systems, each from a dated devlog:
| Date (GMT) | Devlog | Feeding-relevant system | |---|---|---| | 2026-07-04 | Chickens and Hunger! | Chickens as prey; the hunger system | | 2026-07-10 | Uppies and Food Mechanics! | Food mechanics proper | | 2026-10-02 | Headpats and Water! | Drinking water matters too |
Water deserves a flag: children don't just eat. Player reports also mention a well as an existing water fixture (first-hand bug reports reference it).
The soup question (community-reported, unverified numbers)
On the Steam forums, one player relayed Patreon content: soup cooking that converts "20 chicken meat into 100 food, or 50 boar meat into 300", with the player doing the cooking for now, and the Wolf Mama eventually pointing toward nearby herds. A second player post independently confirms soup exists — but the conversion numbers trace to a single relay, not to the developer.
Read it as: soup probably is the late-game feeding tech; the exact math is unconfirmed until the developer or the Patreon post says so in public.
Known trouble: pups that won't drink
First-hand reports from the Episode 3 devlog comments describe pups refusing water and rivers that fail to spawn, with the well as the workaround players reached for. No developer reply was captured (Oct 13, 2026) — if you hit it, the itch comments are where the developer actually answers.
