Yes, there is a Family Time demo — and since October 9, 2026 it comes in two pieces. The developer's official devlog says it verbatim:

"You can download Episode 2 for FREE clicking here (...) Episode 3 which is a continuation of Episode 2 with more features and bugfixes, can be played here."

What the Episodes are

The demo is episodic — think of it as the game's story and systems arriving in installments rather than one installer:

  • Episode 2 — free since Oct 9, 2026. The entry banner leads to the developer's Patreon.
  • Episode 3 — the current version: a continuation of Episode 2 with more features and bug fixes.
  • Episode 1 — players still ask how to install it; official channels currently document Episodes 2 and 3 only, so treat anything claiming to be "Episode 1" with caution.

Version numbers and file sizes live behind the Patreon login wall, so you won't find them invented here.

How to get them

Short version: everything routes through patreon.com/sgthale, and a free membership works for Episode 2. The full walkthrough lives on the download page; the player-verified path is: open the Episode 3 devlog → click the embedded entry image → you land on Patreon → scroll to the bottom.

First-run notes

One first-hand player report (attributed, unanswered at capture) is useful to know before your first launch:

  • The demo offers DX11 and DX12 render paths.
  • There is a "Play Tutorial" prompt at the start.
  • On Linux through Wine, the DX12 build reportedly black-screens and DX11's tutorial prompt can be unresponsive — a Wine limitation, not native-Linux support being promised.

If the download flow confuses you, you're in good company — several players asked the same in the comments before others pointed them to Patreon.

Demo ≠ Early Access ≠ full game

The demo is not Steam Early Access, and itch.io's "Status: Released" tag describes the demo's distribution — not a shipped game. The three states are untangled on Early Access & versions, and the full-release outlook (planned Q1 2027 window) is on release date.
